Jakarta| February, 14 2023Princeton Digital Group (PDG), Asia’s leading data center provider, today announced that it has procured Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) for three of its data centers in Jakarta, Bandung and Pekanbaru. Issued by Indonesian state-owned electricity firm, PLN, the certificates are from electricity generated from the geothermal project, PLTP Kamojang.

“The RECs offset the carbon footprint of our data centers and demonstrate PDG’s commitment to support the sustainability goals of our customers. It advances our strategy towards having all our data centers powered by renewable energy by 2030,” said Stephanus Tumbelaka, Managing Director, PDG Indonesia. “The renewable energy certificates are a testament of our environmental responsibility and our commitment to building sustainable digital infrastructure in Indonesia and support Indonesia’s sustainability goals. We continue to invest in improving energy efficiency of our data centers and are also actively engaging with utility companies to procure renewable energy.” In 2020, PDG became the first corporate buyer of PLN’s RECs and since has regularly procured these certificates as part of its sustainability strategy. PLN RECs are awarded to companies that support Indonesia’s program to promote the use of clean energy and are issued in collaboration with Clean Energy Investment Accelerator (CEIA) Indonesia. The PLN REC certificates are internationally recognized and meet the “RE-100 Best Practices Guidelines” and 'Carbon Disclosure Project standards' (CDP). "We highly appreciate PDG for the commitment to using clean energy to support a greener Indonesia. Through REC, PLN enables customers in running sustainable businesses and supports customers together with the government to achieve our Net Zero Emission target by 2060," said Doddy B. Pangaribuan, General Manager of PLN Jakarta Raya Main Distribution Unit. The REC, is one of PLN's green product innovations designed for customers to be recognized for the use of renewable energy sources that are transparent, accountable and internationally recognized, through verification by an international tracking system, APX TIGRs located in California, United States. With 20 data centers in five key markets, sustainability is a core business focus for PDG. The company’s sustainability strategy is driven by procurement of renewable energy, energy and resource efficiency, green design and construction and technology and innovation
